Sapphra, this is a gem I will read again and again. The pace was agonizingly slow - perfect for the reflection.

"I circle slowly,

not to tease,

but to listen."

I love this. Most are only interested in the explosive ending, but to listen is completely different.

I love the idea of arousal arriving like a train!

I’ve read this three times and have held off commenting because of the weight of this poem. this is sublime. the layers of it. the pacing and build. the moments where you are finding your reflection in the mirror, and the train metaphor anchoring the entire thing. it’s just gorgeous. a manifesto for self love found in the body. there is hope and rebellion in this, tenderness and ache. god this brilliant. ❤️‍🔥

Thank you for reading this poem, Ryan. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. I spent a lot of time on this one and was worried it might not be received as intended. Your kind words made my day brighter. I appreciate your thoughtfulness in sharing your reaction. xx

This is so beautiful I love it! I have always found solo time is almost sacred. The way we know our own body more than someone else’s touch. It’s something unique, and it makes it all the more exciting. I found so many things here I relate to. What I do wish is that I took more time for myself every now and then. There’s a problem where I always feel rushed. I wish I could explore my collarbone, my sternum and all of these beautiful parts of my body I often ignore. This is gorgeous, thank you 🩷

Thank you so much for the feedback. I believe you can take more time for yourself. If you can’t carve out time during the day (we are all busy, I get it), try making bathing a more ritualistic, intentional act.
